GOVERNMENT SOLAR TAX INCENTIVE PROGRAM
If you own a home and purchase a solar powered/charged Gatekeeper Ltd Gate Opener / Operator after December 31, 2008, you may receive a 30% tax credit. This tax credit is available for the installed cost of your solar gate operator on your Federal tax return.
30% Residential Tax Credit
Section 25D of the Internal Revenue Code provides a 30% tax credit to individuals for "qualified solar electric property expenditures" made by the taxpayer during taxable years beginning after December 31, 2008. Qualified solar electric property expenditures are expenditures for a property which uses solar energy to generate electrity for use in the taxpayer's residence. Taxpayers are permitted to rely on a manufacturer's certification in determining whether the property is eligible for the credit. Taxpayers are not required to attach the certification statement to the tax return on which the credit is claimed, but should keep a copy for his or her records.

The installed cost of solar powered gate operator systems and accessories purchased and installed after December 31, 2008.
Must be installed on a residence used by the taxpayer.
Residential dwelling must be located in the United States.
What Does Not Qualify? The cost of the gate itself or any work required to repair, restore, or to re-establish the gate into working order..
